Shakespeare

But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east and Juliet is the sun!
Arise fair sun and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief
That thou her maid art far more fair than she.
Be not her maid, since she is envious.
Her vestal livery is but sick and green,
And none but fools do wear it. Cast it off.
It is my lady! O, it is my love
O, that she knew she were!
She speaks, yet says nothing. What of that?
Her eye discourses; I will answer it.
I am too bold; 'tis not to me she speaks.
Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven,
Having some business, do entreat her eyes
To twinkle in their spheres till they return.
What if her eyes were there, they in her head?
The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars
As daylight doth a lamp; her eyes in heaven
Would through the airy region stream so bright
That birds would sing and think it were not night.
See how she leans her cheek upon her hand!
O, that I were a glove upon that hand,
That I might touch that cheek!

Amazing Life

It is interesting... to read stuff where you know the person is just pouring their brains and heart out and not caring what the rest of the world thinks. Like blogs for example. The art of expressing yourself isn't the easiest task in the world. I think that's why music and poetry are so important to me. A vent where it's o.k. to be different. Or maybe just where you don't have to be someone exotic but just simply yourself.
You know it's interesting going and reading friends blogs and getting to know people on facebook that I've really only said hello to once or twice. It kind of gives you a broader perspective on life, like that maybe your not the only one who is alive and breathing. Like there were a lot more people who cooked themselves eggs for breakfast today and thought it was manna from heaven. Or watched the sunrise and decided that they were going to paint their kitchen yellow when they have a house. Just little things like that.
It has really surprised me sometimes. You think you know someone but you really have no idea what they're like. You'd never guess that they have so much more thought and feeling. You're not close enough to break that outer shell and see who the real Jon Doe is.
And whenever I think about things it all comes to the conclusion that God's creation is just amazing. Every single atom and molecule! And aren't we dang lucky to have his grace cause he definitely didn't need to give it to us. It's really astonishing....

Over the Creek and Through the Snow

It was 8 o'clock when we started. Only 6 degrees Fahrenheit outside. The moon was already up and just a few wisps of clouds here and there. Nonetheless we were going to go cross-country skiing! It was totally grand... until our legs got tired. =) The moon shown on the snow to make it look like God had sprinkled a million diamonds all over the ground. I wished I had, had my camera to take pictures with. All along our journey down Kay Road there were trees covered in snow... you know, the ideal wintry look... just lovely. But it felt like it was broad daylight with the moon one day after it's fullest. There were five of us, Em, Isaac, Chan, Paddy and myself. Little Paddy looked so cute all bundled up with is little mini skis and polls. The poor guy, he crashed so many times! We had a little train formation so to speak. Em plowed the way for the rest of us with Chan right behind her. Isaac was all over, sometimes making his own trail, or in the back of the train or somewhere in the middle. But usually he went right before Paddy and I followed up in the back. As Paddy would tell me, "Hurry up caboose!!!" He definitely wasn't having much trouble keeping up with us bigger kids. And when we would ask him, "Are you tired Musky?" he would immediately answer "No!" as if to not let it show how much work this expedition really was. In our journey we went up the driveway, cut across the front corn field (along G), went all the way down Kay Road, and then cut through another corn field, after which we across a couple fences and the creek, and then went through the horse pasture (of course the horses ignored us as they munched random stuff in the moonlight) and then through the cow pasture... till we made it back, sore but it one piece to our glowing little house, which reminded me of a little ginger bread house. When we got inside it was almost ten... not bad timing for an over-a-mile trek. Thank goodness Dad and Mom had some hot water on the stove for hot chocolate to warm our gizzards. =) Which I am currently drinking as I right this.
And thus ends my tale of our recordings of our late night, cross-country skiing trip on Christmas Eve! =D
Merry Christmas you guys!

Way to go Bill

"They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk:
Why you ain't,
Where you is,
What he drive,
Where he stay,
Where he work,
Who you be...
And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk.
And then I heard the father talk.
>
Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads.
You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth.
In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living. People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around.
>
The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal.
>
These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500 sneakers for what!??
And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.
I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit. Where were you when he was 2 ? ?
Where were you when he was 12 ? ?
Where were y ou when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol ? ?
And where is the father ? ?
Or who is his father?
>
People putting their clothes on backward: Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong?
People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something?
Or are you waiting for Jesus to pull his pants up?
Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles [piercing] going through her body?
What part of Africa did this come from??
We are not Africans.
Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa.
With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap, and all of them are in jail. Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem.
>
We have got to take the neighborhood back.
>
People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now.
We have millionaire football players who cannot read.
We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs.
We, as black folks have to do a better job.
Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us.
We have to start holding each other to a higher standard.
We cannot blame the white people any longer."

Snow, Snow, Snow!!!!

Yay.... it's so beautiful!!! I like winter time, or actually Christmas time I should say. After Christmas is over and all the red and green decor is gone it's so dull... But in the mean time I feel like singing Feliz Navidad! =D That is my favorite "secular" Christmas song. You know I am getting the urge to go skiing at midnight with a full moon. Doesn't that sound enticing? And then you get inside and drink a steamy rich cup of hot chocolate with a bit of peppermint schnapps! Yum!!!
Oh and it's awesome to give my sista's gifts and stuff! But the hard part is picking them out... or even worse trying to get someone to take you to Eau Claire in the first place so you can get 'em gifts. =S Luckily for me (since I keep forgetting) it is only the 2 of December and I still have plenty of shopping time left!
Farewell for now my beautiful ladies and Feliz Navidad!!! =D

Nothing Changes

Seasons come, seasons go.
There's things to see and things to know.
Is there more to life than this?
An anxious sigh for heavenly bliss.
la
Through it all things stay the same.
Things never really seem to change.
There's nothing new under the sun.
Every stage will be re-run.
la
There's constant weather, rain and shine.
Howling winds and starry nights.
Hoary frosts and orange sunsets.
Clouds in the sky; their permanent rest.
la
Through it all things stay the same.
Things never really seem to change.
There's nothing new under the sun.
Nothing new since man has begun.

I Got...Nothing Better to Do!

I'm really excited about Thanksgiving and am feeling quite convivial! Do you know what convivial means? In fact in this old dictionary I have, the first definition of it is "fond of feasting"! Dude I am totally prepared for a feast! =P Lickin' my lips! Yeeeeeeehaw! Man really want to watch Pride and Prejudice and I can't wait for the conference which is almost half a year away and I want to drink apple cider and then hot chocolate with a little bit of peppermint schnapps!!! O.K. I think you get the point!
On a randomer note I think it would be nice if there was never a winter solstice cause then it could just stay light all the time. Now this is the part of the show where you grab me and then shake me and say, "Mary Ellen I have the perfect solution for you! You should move to that place where it's always morning time... like I think it's Alaska or maybe Greenland!"
But now my left shoulder hurts from telling you to many scary things and such! Eat, drink and be marry my friend, for tomorrow you may not be able to do either!!! TTYL!

Just Keep Swimming...

So pretty much that is the coolest saying. Just keep swimming. ;) It's so easy to apply to life! lol! You know I was checking out my Bible and I read this really cool verse. You have to check it out: Job 5:7
It's not one of those verses that you can really do something with if you know what I mean but it's really true. Also Proverbs 3:5 I think the other one is. I'm sure ya'll already know that one by heart though. =)
Well I'll type later!

Freaky Fall Funness!

Gee, I can't believe that it's already getting cold. You know it should just stay in the 60 degree range with the trees at their turning peak. That would be soooooo sweet! Man I love the colors too! I just can't get enough. It makes me want to wear one of those sweaters that is the geeky mustard yellow! lol! I do believe I have become abscessed with taking pictures! It's just so fun! You take ten and you're lucky if two come out amazing. hee, hee! So don't ask me why I like it so much but it's so cool to look at the pictures you've taken and think, "holy cow that would make and awesome calendar photo!"

Well I have officially lost my mind! =)

I'm the Girl...

I'm the Girl....
k
I'm the girl across the room,
The one in bows and braids.
I look across
And Smile at you,
But your smile quickly fades.
K
I'm the girl who sits in back of you
To see where your eyes might lead,
Hoping that for one second
They might find me.
k
I'm the girl you didn't ask,
The one you're too good for.
Everytime I open a window,
You always close a door.
k
Times have changed
And time moves on.
k
Now you're the one,
The one who smiles from across the room,
The one who looks for my eyes to find his,
The one I didn't ask.
k
I'm sorry that you took so long,
So long to come around,
'Cause my heart is taken now
While yours is all torn down.
k
Maybe you should've noticed me
Back in our schoolhood days.
Or maybe God was just telling me
That He has better Ways.
k
So here I am,
k
The girl all dressed in white.
I say "I do" to someone else,
Someone else who saw me,
Someone else who smiled back,
Someone else who loves me,
Which is something you always lacked.
k
I'm not sorry
That you were so cruel to me.
God just used it
As a way
To provide what's best for me.

Exciting Events... not!

Hey y'all I thought I should post cause I haven't in a long while. Gee I just love autumn! All the trees turning and stuff! It's pretty sweet. =) I like the orange and red best. But duh, who wouldn't?
Well I don't have much to say. I have to work 40 hrs. a week (7 days a week too) or more feeding calves for my Dad still. It's pretty exciting. =P I have to go help at our Awana club outside of Osseo with my Mom. It o.k. at least some of the little kids are cute that I work with.
Anywhoo I can't wait till the Free Parade can get together again (we need to seriously plan something chicklets!).
Well I really should go snuggle into my covers! TTYL!

Sweet Sights!

So, kind of continuing my last post, I was thinking about it and I've seen some pretty awesome things just in this last year. I saw that meteor like I motioned in my last post, I saw (and actually a Sanny saw it too) that sun set where there was a star in the sun set and there was an arch over it all. It was freakishly awesome! And then just the other morning I saw a rainbow in the west (think about it... usually there are only rainbows in the evening in the east). Did y'all see it? It was pretty cool!
Anyways that was just a random splurb! =D I'm reading Romeo and Juliet. I'm only half way through but it's starting to get to the bad parts! =( Well I need to go feed my baby moos! TTYL!

Black and Blue

Last night I saw this awesome thing. It was like a shooting star but it looked like it was burning and then suddenly it disappeared. It was so amazing that it made me happy for the next fifteen minutes. I wonder, it was probably a meteor. Gee... you know it's cool when you see a shooting star but this was like just crazy! Well enough of my rambling. =)

P.S go to www.laruemusic.com and click on "click here" and then listen to Phillip's song Black and Blue. It's really soothing and relaxing and it reminds me of cold play.

Something to do!

Well I really had a blast with you guys yesterday! That was a lot of fun! Well have to work extra hard now to get together but we'll manage, eh?!! Man I'm so glad that it's sunny and all! It's so beautiful out. I want to take a walk tonight and do something fun! I feel like painting my room light yellow with white trim! That would be sooooo awesome! I am in an active spirit right now! ... so I should go do something then! love y'all! =D

Sleep-Overs and Stuff

Well I had a really fun weekend! We went and stayed and my Grandpa's. He lives just outside of Milwaukee in a suburb area. It was really beautiful and pretty cause he had a little pond right outside of his house and everything. Then yesterday we went to the zoo. There were some pretty sweet animals there and stuff but it started raining so we only saw probably half of the animals. After that we went down to the Gitto's for the evening. I helped Laura and Katie milk the cows and feed the calves! It was really fun. I like milking cows in their barn!

Anyways so what's the deal with the sleep over thing? I think it would be cool to go to your house KC! I think Emily would probably bring us girls down there. She can't sleep over though so we'd need a ride home. (?)

Beautiful Blusteryness

Well today is very satisfying. It's cloudy and rainy and cold and you can drink hot chocolate and tea and it all is just so cozy and fun! I read all morning. I'm reading Gone With the Wind! It is amazingly well written and even though there is a lot of descriptiveness I like it. I'm still not sure what to think of it yet. I'm barely half way through it too! Norah you need to read it when I'm done with it! I think you would like it! =D Hey you're finally 14!!! Happy Birthday girlfriend!!! I'm sorry I couldn't come to your party. I would have very much liked to come but such is life. =( Well I should skedaddle. With all the reading I've been doing my room has been left unattended for the past day or two and I really need to clean it! Hope the whole party goes well! TTYL!

P.S. hey Sandy, I finally used that tea bag you gave me before you left for camp!!! I know it took me forever but I'm glad I waited cause it was perfect this morning! =D Where did you buy it again?

Dancing, Movies and Weddings!

So y'all I'm having a pretty good week how bout y'all?!!! Yeah me and my cousins just watched two movies. They were in fact, Yours Mine and Ours (the new one) and Highschool Musical. Yeah Y.M.O was cute and it was good but you just can't compare it to the old movie. You almost have to think of it as a totally separate movie. H.M was pretty cool as far as dancing and singing go and I guess it has a cute plot too. But I don't think I'd go out and buys the movie or pay to see it. I must say though Zac Efron is hot though. I find it comical that the star of the movie can't sing. Anywho, Alyssa's wedding is coming up!! Wow, I really wish I could go to it so y'all have to promise to take alot of pictures and DANCE YOUR BRAINS OUT!!! I love dancing. I think i want to learn some sweet moves!! Well enough blabbing about nothing. TTYL y'all!

The Scarlet Tide
Well I recall his parting words
Must I accept his fate
Or take myself far from this place
I thought I heard a black bell toll
A little bird did sing
Man has no choice
When he wants every thing
scarlet
We'll rise above the scarlet tide
That trickles down through the mountain
And separates the widow from the bride
scarlet
Man goes beyond his own decision
Gets caught up in the mechanism
Of swindlers who act like kings
And brokers who break everything
The dark of night was swiftly fading
Close to the dawn of day
Why would I want him just to lose him again
scarlet
We'll rise above the scarlet tide
That trickles down through the mountain
And separates the widow from the bride

Crazyness

When I just got on to my blog it said that I had 110 posts! That means... that this is my 111. Funny huh?! Yeah I know I'm a freaky person. =D Well this morning some of the relatives are leaving. My Aunt Cyndy and Uncle Mario with their kids (Dominic, Hannah, and Maria) and my Aunt Chris with her two boys (Dustin and Eric). Waah!! It's been pretty fun. A week doesn't last very long either; especially when you're having fun. One cool thing is Jacqueline is going to be here tomorrow!!! Yeah crazy huh?!! Well I think I need to go eat some food.

P.S. I actually woke up at 7:00 this morning! It's a miracle! I always wake up at around 8 or 8:30! This is my record for the summer. =)

I love it! Well did any of you gals get to go see fireworks? Well I'm being tackled by freaky older brothers so I'd better go! TTYL!

I feel alone: when I have nothing to do and no one to turn to
I listen: to discussions about the Bible cause I can never know enough
I hide: somewhere safe
I drive: the lawn mower! lol!

The Scornful

Take one moment and grab a dictionary. Look up the word scorn, scorner, scorneth etc. In the Bible you find a lot of verses that talk about someone or something being "laughed to scorn." This is the definition of scorn that I came up with...
–noun
1. open or unqualified contempt; disdain: His face and attitude showed the scorn he felt.
2. an object of derision or contempt.
3. a derisive or contemptuous action or speech. –verb (used with object)
4. to treat or regard with contempt or disdain: They scorned the old beggar.
5. to reject, refuse, or ignore with contempt or disdain: She scorned my help.

–verb (used without object)
6. to mock; jeer. —Idiom
7. laugh to scorn, to ridicule; deride: Her good advice was laughed to scorn.

So I was looking at a bunch of the verses that talked about scorn in the Bible and from what it sounds like, or maybe I should say... as you can tell, scorn is not a good thing.
Here are some of the verses that I found:

Proverbs 1:22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

Proverbs 22:10 Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

Here are some other verses you can look up for yourself if you feel the urge:
Proverbs 13:1
Prov. 19:25
Prov. 21:23-24
Prov. 29:8
Psalm 1:1

Well that was a random subject and I don't know what made me think of it but that's just part of my randomness. =D TTYL!
Well I jsut culodn't rseist! I lvoe to wirte like tihs. Isn't it fnuny how our brians work? Even thugoh a whloe bnuch of the letetrs are mxied up we can still fugire out what it's tlaking abuot, just as long as the frist and last letetr are in the same palce as usulal...
You get the point anyways. Teehee!

So what's up y'all? I have the awesomest tune stuck in my head! It's called I'd Lie by Taylor Swift. Norah showed it to me first (thanks girly)! Anyways I should go... wait till it's 6;15 so Jae can come home with the beloved PIZZA!! Yesssss! *in a Napoleon sounding voice*

(The spellcheck went crazy with this one! lol!)

I What?

I've come to realize that my last kiss: was in your dreams
I am listening to: the little kids laughing and playing in the water outside
I talk: about girl stuff a lot
I love: having a really good time with friends and family
Number six is: a cool number unless you add two more
I hate it when people: are selfish and prideful... when they can't see past there own mistakes
Love is: a strong word
Marriage: is going to be like a roller coaster!
Somewhere, someone: is laughing so hard they're crying because they're totally happy!
I'll always be: there for you
I have a secret crush: about twice a year ;D
The last time I cried was because: I had heard a really good song
My cell phone: was stolen from me by my sister
When I wake up in the morning: I read!
Before I go to bed: I freak out cause I didn't know it was 12:17 a.m.
Right now: I wish something would happen that would make my whole summer unforgettable
I am thinking about: ...something you can't know about
Babies are: so cute that you just want to kiss them!
I go on MySpace: every night while I'm sleeping
Today I: read, cleaned, ate some ice cream and read...

Tomorrow I will: probably read... it's a dang good book series!
I really want to be: a wife and mom someday
Someone who will most likely repost this is: my totally wicked friends! teehee! ;D

I feel like I'm sailing a river. I feel like I'm about to make some major change; like I'm about to go over the water fall and I'm right at the edge. I can hear it I know it's there and it's so strange and different from what I've know. It seems like it will be eternity before I actually go down the fall. Hmmmm. Is this what the teen-age years feel like?

Slacking!!!

Hey Y'all. Well the weather is mighty fine, or just right as far as I'm concerned. Not too hot, not too cold. I really got quite the work-out today! I mowed lawn and did other assorted things. You wouldn't think mowing the lawn would be such a hard job (as my mom always tells me) but really it wares you out. And out mower is harder to steer so it takes more muscle. But hey! that's not so bad. You know as they say, "Pain is gain" so maybe I'm in for a deal doing so much work. =D Yeah, it's not such a bad prospect after all.
Enough blabbering about work though. Just thinking about it can make a person tired sometimes! ;) Right now I'm reading a book called Chaucer's Canterbury Tales: A new and moder English prose translation by R.M. Lumiansky with a preface by van Doren. So far it's really good. What the gist of it all is this group of twenty (or so), are all going on pilgrimages (inspired by nature and the time of year or something like that) and are traveling for Canterbury. Well it so happens that the keeper of the inn they stay at the first night likes this merry party so much that he makes them a proposal: that he will accompany them on their journey and each traveler must tell two stories, (of which he will be judge for who's is best) then whoever tells the best story (as far as entertainment and moral teaching) will be allowed to stay at his inn (at the expense of himself and the other travelers) for free on the return journey. So right now I am about half way through the book. There are some quite interesting tales. You guys will have to read it when I'm done, but it definitely should be rated 13 years of age plus (skip the PG)! It has some vulgarity and crudeness in it. =D
Well I'm sure it is past ten and I need to go to sleep. I have been quite bad this month and on most days I wake up no later than 8:30!! As a mater of fact the first tale told in The C.C. Tales tells about the fair maiden Emily who, "... arose and dressed herself before day break, as was her custom; for May will permit no sluggishness in rising. That season touches every sensitive heart and forces a person to leap from bed by saying, "Arise, and pay homage to me." This caused Emily to remember to honor May and to get up early." Maybe I just don't have a sensitive heart! lol! =D
Well this time I really mean it. I will go to bed. Farewell my brilliant friends!

We All Have Our Heroes

Heroes
For you who love heroic things
In summer dream or winter tale,
I tell of warriors, saints, and kings,
In scarlet, sackcloth, glittering mail,
And helmets peaked with iron wings.
They beat down Wrong; they strove for Right.
In ringing fields, on grappled ships,
Singing, they flung into the fight.
They fell with triumph on their lips,
And in their eyes a glorious light.
That light still gleams. From far away
Their brace song greets us like a cheer.
We fight the same great fight as they,
Right against Wrong; we, now and here;
They, in their fashion, yesterday.
~William Canton
hero
Opportunity
This I beheld, or dreamed it in a dream:
There spread a cloud of dust along a plain;
And underneath the cloud, or in it, raged
A furious battle, and men yelled, and swords
Shocked upon swords and shields. A prince’s banner
Wavered, then staggered backward, hemmed by foes.
A craven hung along the battles edge,
And thought: “Had I a sword of keener steel-
That blue blade that the king’s son bears - but this
Blunt thing-!” he snapt and flung it from his hand,
And lowering crept away and left the field.
Then came the king’s son, wounded, sore bestead,
And weaponless, and saw the broken sword,
Hilt buried in the dry and trodden sand,
And ran and snatched it, and with battle shout
Lifted afresh, he hewed his enemy down,
And saved a great cause that heroic day.
~Edward Rowland Sill
hero
Our Heroes
Here’s a hand to the boy who has courage
To do what he knows to be right;
When he falls in the way of temptation,
He has a hard battle to fight.
Who strives against self and his comrades
Will find a most powerful foe.
All honor to him if he conquers.
A cheer for the boy who says “NO!”
hero
There’s many a battle fought daily
The world knows nothing about;
There’s many a brave little soldier
Whose strength puts a legion to rout.
And he who fights sin single-handed
Is more of a here, I say,
That he who leads soldiers to battle
And conquers by arms in the fray.
hero
Be steadfast, my boy, when you’re tempted,
To do what you know to be right.
Stand firm by the colors of manhood,
And you will o’ercome in the fight.
“The right” be your battle cry ever
In waging the warfare of life,
And God, who knows who are the heroes,
Will give you the strength for the strife.

~Phoebe Cary

Busy, Busy Days

Well it’s been pretty busy lately. Work, work, work! Yeah you know what I mean; that never ending drive to get things done. Well we’ve been cleaning the farm area and doing crazy things like scraping old paint off the red shed. Actually we’re doing that so that we can paint it!!! It’s going to look so weird around here when that’s done. At least it will look nice for the graduation party. Gee, have you ever noticed how time seems like it is going at the speed of light and then when you look at the clock or the calendar it time really hasn’t gotten that far? Maybe I’m just strange like that. Lol! Man not only is the Graduation party right on us but Anna Marie is getting married too!!! Holy shiners, life is crazy! Well I have to go mow the lawn…

Monday, May 14, 2007

I am in a strange mood. I really feel like watching Tuck Everlasting. Maybe it’s the weather? You know, the trees are full and lush, the grass is green, and I feel like being adventurous. Think about it, what if you suddenly one day decided to take a walk in the woods (or maybe you were mad so you ran off and didn’t pay attention to where you were going) and you stumbled upon this cute guy who dressed like he was from the 1900’s! Then you get kidnapped… well that wouldn’t be that great but the whole thought is just so exciting!! I know. I must sound like an 8 year old right now. You know… there is a huge used-to-be tree farm to the south of our property… and the guys who own it even have a “deer sanctuary” that they never disturb… hmmmm!
Can’t you just hear the tune in the little music box. I want to get one with that same tune. It’s so enchanting!

Hot and Humid

Well I haven’t posted in a while so I just thought I would while I’m on lunch brake. Mom is having everyone work today instead of do school. We are cleaning the whole farm cause we are having some bankers come or something like that. Man it is so hot outside! It’s 73 in the house and 85 degrees out there, and really humid.
The party was so much fun! It was to bad that Kacey couldn’t come. =( But that’s life huh. Tim was there of course so you would have gotten to see him. Unfortunately the guy that Sanny wanted to come had to work. Blah! I’d have to say the most fun I had was playing Texas Holdem’! I was really surprised that I won. I bet I wouldn’t have if Jacob and his party hadn’t had to leave before it was over. I just got lucky.
You know what?… I really feel like swimming right now. Water sounds so good. But I’d rather go to some lake or something cause chlorine pools get so annoying sometimes. I have a feeling that my summer will be pretty… (how do you say it?) uneventful… as in there wont be any guy that I’ll be interested. But that will be good I suppose. Maybe I’ll get more accomplished!
so much fun!
Hey! We need to plan another sleep over! Some Saturday night were Kacey can come to church with us. We can have a bon fire, roast marsh-mellows, go on walks, talk till midnight thirty and anything we can think of! That sound like fun!

Tuesday, May 8, 2007

A rock on weekend!!! =D

Well that was one heck of a weekend! Holy cow I don’t think I slept much! ;) On Friday night Sanny slept over and we stayed up talking till 4 a.m. Then on Sunday the Gitto’s were over all afternoon and stayed until 12:30 a.m. (they were waiting for this guy to bring the tractor they brought). Last night all you girls came over and we partied till 3:30 a.m.! What were your guys’ favorite movie? Scoop was actually pretty cool. The geeky, ditsy, hot blond actually solves a murder case! Kinda cute huh? lol! Then there was Tristan and Isoele. That was good and sad. All because Isoele didn’t tell Tristan here real name. Idiot! Yeah I blame her mostly. Maybe that just because she’s a woman so I know how her mind works. (???) Yeah anyways.
Kacey… I don’t think we’ll ever let you forget Mr. Caesar… that’s my nickname for him. =D That was just too comical that you were in 5 out of 6 of the He Said, She Said’s! I guess we were all thinking of you.
Well I so can’t wait until Saturday. If the weather is bad I am going to be so… mad! But I have a good feeling that it will be really nice out… and it’s going to be a blast!

Ponderous Thoughts

Wow the clouds right now are amazing! They are so blue and wispy! There is a little bit of sun left. It is orange and pink but I can only see some of it before the clouds cover it up. Do you ever think about it? Like somewhere past those clouds, the ozone layer, the ionosphere and off a million light years away God sits and watches the earth with Jesus sitting by his side in the heavenly realm observing the Holy Spirit working in our lives and many others in our small world. It's so amazing to think about. The universe only furthermore declares the existence of a creator. Why can't everyone see that?

And the French?

Well once again I was reading my history today (The World of John Smith by Genevieve Foster) and one thing caught my eye, and I decided I just had to post about it.
It was telling about an observatory off the coast of Denmark called Uraniborg (Castle of Heavens). As you can tell it was used for the study of the stars and the heavens. Well one guy who observed there, was named Tycho Brahe. This is the part of my book that I thought was… interesting.
French
“There (Uraniborg), night after night for the next twenty years, sat one of the great observers of all time gazing at the stars. His name was Tycho Brahe. He had so telescope. He had only his eyes. Tycho Brahe could see no more than seven planets which the early Babylonians had seen and named. Yet he observed what he could see more accurately, and left a fund of exact measurements and information for others to use.
His ideas were extremely odd. About comets he wrote: “They are formed by human sins and wickedness rising from the earth, which forms into a kind of gas, and is ignited by the wrath of God. This poisonous stuff falls down again on peoples heads and causes all kinds of mischief, such as pestilence, sudden death, bad weather… and Frenchmen.”
French
Well there you have it. But it made me wonder, why are/have the French always been disliked? Is it mostly by the English only? I found this quite a comical deal!! Like in The Last of the Mohican's an English officer says something about, “while we fight the French sit around and make love with their faces in a mirror…” (or something like that. It’s not the exact quote). Hmm. What is it with the French? I think they just like drinking wine and observing/creating fine arts that fighting. That is not so bad really; if done in moderation. Every now and then you must go to war for the cause of freedom and liberty. They must take such things for granted.
But who am I to judge the French? No doubt there are quite a number of honorable and decent Frenchmen.

THE BLACK REGIMENT

[May 27, 1863]
Dark as the clouds of even,
Ranked in the western heaven,
Waiting the breath that lifts
All the dead mass, and drifts
Tempest and falling brand
Over a ruined land,--
So still and orderly,
Arm to arm, knee to knee,
Waiting the great event,
Stands the black regiment.
sdf

Down the long dusky line
Teeth gleam and eyeballs shine;
And the bright bayonet,
Bristling and firmly set,
Flashed with a purpose grand,
Long ere the sharp command
Of the fierce rolling drum
Told them their time had come,
Told them what work was sent
For the black regiment.

“Now,” the flag-sergeant cried,
“Though death and hell betide,
Let the whole nation see
If we are fit to be
Free in this land; or bound
Down, like the whining hound,--
Bound with red stripes of pain
In our cold chains again!”
O, what a shout there went
From the black regiment!
sdf

“Charge!” Trump and drum awoke;
Onward the bondmen broke;
Bayonet and sabre-stroke
Vainly opposed their rush.
Through the wild battle’s crush,
With but one thought aflush,
Driving their lords like chaff,
In the gun’s mouths they laugh;
Or at the slippery brands
Leaping with open hands,
Down they tear man and horse,
Down in their awful course;
Trampling with bloody heel
Over the crashing steel,--
All their eyes forward bent,
Rushed the black regiment.
sdf

“Freedom!” their battle-cry,--
“Freedom! or leave to die!”
Ah! and they meant the word,’
Not as with us ‘t is heard,
Not a mere party shout;
They gave their spirits out,
Trusted the end to God,
And on the gory sod
Rolled in triumphant blood,
Glad to strike one free blow,
Whether for weal or woe;
Glad to breath one free breath,
Though on the lips of death;
Praying, -alas! in vain! -
That they might fall again,
So they could once more see
That burst to liberty!
This was what “freedom” lent
To the black regiment.
sdf

Hundreds on hundreds fell;
But they are resting well;
Scourges and shackles strong
Never shat do them wrong.
O, to the living few,
Soldiers, be just and true!
Hail them as comrades tried;
Fight with them side by side;
Never, in field or tent,
Scorn the black regiment!
