YESSSAAH!!!

Random Question

Some things in life are simply outdated and no matter how funny, rediculous or silly they may be it's just time for them to go. Like the question that has been on my profile for a really long time:

What reason do you have to believe the earth is flat?

Well I was walkin' along and I thought of tanning on the roof. Suddenly I imagined that I was on the roof and I walked to the edge to see what was on the ground. I saw a Klondike bar! I jumped to retrieve it. Sooo... I started to fall and I met a whole bunch of sailors who had fallen off the edge too. It totally freaked me out cause they were like from 1462!!! What was the question again?

I didn't want to just get rid of it completely because it brings back a lot of good memories for me. I'm sure it probably makes very little sense to you. ;)

The Current Happenings

Life never slows down it seems.

The Olympics are on and I've been watching them most nights with my family. We've watched all the big moments and cheered on Team U.S.A. We don't usually watch the television but this is our one exception... and it's not bad since the Olympics only come on every 2 years. ;)

I've been really busy with work, school, projects.... and trying to find a balance to it all. I've been working 4 milking's a week and once my brother Daniel moves I'll be working 5 milking's a week. Right now we have a deal where he borrows my car (because his truck is broken down) and he milks 3 of my milking's a month. I don't know if I'm necessarily getting a good deal, but family is family and I hope he'd do the same for me.

In a week our Church Mid-Winter Retreat/Conference will start. I can't wait!!!! I look forward to this event every year. Friends come that only see once a year usually, and it's great to get in the Word and learn new things. I'll be staying in the hotel where the conference is at with my friend Sandy and her mom and sister.
I'm REALLY hoping my friend Courtney will be able to come!!! I really want to see her soon!!!
COURTNEY.... ARE YOU COMING?!!!!
This year we're having a really great speaker, Richard Jordan, pastor of Shorewood Bible Church come (http://www.shorewoodbiblechurch.org/).
Now, this isn't just another good speaker.... this is Richard Jordan. lol Mr. Jordan has been really important in the lives of many believers and he has a really good ministery. He started Grace School of the Bible which me and my family and friends have spent many Bible Study nights watching the video tapes of the classes.

In essence a lot of the believer from my church (myself included) are really looking forward to hearing him teach in person.

Here's the information for the Retreat.... and this is also my church's website:

Tomorrow we're having a little family "going away" party for Daniel, Jacqueline and Bradford. It should be fun. I'm going to have Jacqui teach me how to make her delicious, marinaded chicken. =) I don't think we'll be able to survive a summer without it and with Jacqui moving away so somebody needs to learn the recipe.

I also need to start planning my graduation party. I'm going to have a double grad. party with my good friend Norah. I'm looking forward to that as well.

This life sure has it's ups and downs, and there's never a rest is seems. There's always something more to get done, something more to start, and something more to catch up on. It's like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're gonna get. ;)

This billboard sign is located in Wyoming, Mn - heading south on 35 just before the Wyoming exit on the east side of 35 just before Stars & Strikes bowling alley.

~I got this in an email forward. I thought it was pretty funny. =)

The Charleston

I've been wanting to learn to dance the Charleston for quite some time. There's nothing that looks more amazing that those wobbly, twisty ankles and knees. =)
And I know from experience, that when you've learned a dance well it really feels great to boogie to the rhythm of the music.

Have you ever seen the movie, starring James Stuart, "It's a Wonderful Life"? If you have you might remember the part in the beginning when George Bailey and Mary are dancing the Charleston at his brother's graduation.

Here's one of my favorite video's of the Charleston in which "Al and Leon" are showing off different Charleston dance styles:

Now tell me that doesn't look like fun!!!
But... the only trick is that.. well it's pretty tricky. :P
I will get it down one of these days though! If it takes me the rest of my remaining 82 years on earth! ;)

Out of the Mouths of Babes

It was 3:53 p.m. on a week day. Mom had been working with my younger siblings all day on school and they were still not finished.
A good friend had just come over with his muzzle loader and the older boys and my dad were out on the deck getting ready to test it out.
My little brother Patrick (9 years old), said to my mom,
"Hey Momma? ...can I go outside?"

My mom smiled and replied with a sound of surrender and sarcasm in her voice , "Fine, just go outside... I'm sick of school anyway!"
Paddy said in an all too serious tone (as he quickly put his books away before mom might change her mind),
"Good for you. I wouldn't like it either."

One Nice Car

O.K... I couldn't resist. This is my dad's 1968 corvette. Actually he doesn't own it anymore (because of a few unfortunate events), but I'd imagine he had some nice rides back in the days.

Isaac

btw... today is Isaac's 16th birthday!!!! Where has the time gone? It was just yesterday that we were playing in the sandbox and swimming in the bath tub together (which is where he "accidentally knocked out an already-loose baby tooth)! lol
I suppose tomorrow we'll be in our thirties with our own families, laughing about the good old days. =)

Openings

Life on the farm is always changing. Especially when it comes to the people we have working on the farm.

We've been expecting for some time that Daniel might move to Arizona. Ever since he got married there's been talk of moving. Of course with the economy and other obstacles, that never really happened.
Last night we (my parents and I) were talking with Daniel before he went out to milk and it is quite in their (Daniel and Jacqui's) plans to try and move to Arizona this spring if possible. That means there will be 6 milkings a week that will need to be filled.

Of course there are 14 milkings in a week. The cows must be milked once in the morning and once at night.

The real surprise, though, is Emily. She will be working for her old employer again (at a cleaning job) starting tomorrow which means she'll get to work with her husband. Eventually she's going to want to quit milking cows completely. Right now though there are 3 milkings of hers that my dad and I are going to have to take over. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings.

It's quite the curve ball, but I guess we should have know it would happen eventually. Hopefully, I will be able to pick up a lot of the slack. I know my dad will be looking for one or maybe even two new employees though. It's tough trying to make ends meet on a farm.

So before this week I milked 3 milkings. Both milkings on Saturday and also on Monday night (tonight I'll be milking the cows).
As of this week, and at least for the time being, I'll be milking Mon. p.m., Wed. a.m., Thurs. a.m. and Sat. p.m.

Life really is like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're going to get. =)
