Winter and The New Year

Hello, again. It's been a while hasn't it? My bad... I've been so busy lately, with work and Christmas and so much more. I feel like my mind is on a race track going 200 mph... there's always more to think about especially right now.

It's is snowing outside. It's kind of looking like a blizzard. It looks so beautiful though!!! So white and fluffy... absolutely magnificent. It makes me think of the Christmas song that Isaac wrote that goes something like, "and she wants snowflakes in her hair from God's own hand/ and she wants footprints to follow her up the path/ and if that fires getting cold, stoke and blow/ cause Christmas always starts with snow."

It's so much fun to frolic in but not so swell when it comes to shoveling or trying to drive somewhere.

Just think in two days we will begin a whole new year. A whole new year of fun and troubles. lol =D So much happens in a year and it makes it feel like an eternity.

I've been reading Created to be His Help Meet, by Debi Pearl. My Lanta! it's a good book and it really makes me think. Life isn't like a box of chocolates... we have a lot of challenges and there is so much we have to remember. I guess we wouldn't get anywhere without the Lord. I've never had a new year's resolution but I think I might try this year to remember to smile and be patient and to be happy, and content as well. Life is a choice; you can either choose to smile and be thankful or to hate everything about it.

Well off to get some things done. There's always more to do. =)

~Love, Mel

Fall Time

Fall is here. It's cold out, the sky tends to be cloudy quite often these days. It isn't surprising if the temperature doesn't get above 60 degrees during the day, and that it might drop to anything around 20 degrees at night. Most mornings there is a good chance that there will be frost on the ground. There are always more leaves to rake. An abundance of tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are being drunk. Extra blankets are put on the beds... no more sleeping with just a sheet. The trees rapidly turn vibrant colors and in a week or two are suddenly all bare. The sun is setting earlier and earlier. Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up with the sun? It comes peaking up from the horizon later and later each morning. Soup for dinner, sounds so hardy and appetizing. Summer clothes are packed away, and replaced by long sleeves, winter coats, scarves mittens and hats. Fires in the fire places are stoked, wood burners are loaded quite often, and heaters are running all the time. Guns, bows, camouflage, and blaze orange, are coming out for hunting. Schools is back, along with after school activities. Oatmeal, pancakes, or cream of wheat make a nice warm breakfast. A steady order and flow is resumed to make up for the laid back and lazy summer. Fall is here.

Motivated.

Well, I figured I'd just leave a little note or something, considering I haven't really posted in quite some time.
I'm feeling very industrious today... maybe due to the fact that I have completely gone through my wardrobe and practically gotten rid of a whole box of clothes! Whoohoo! lol ...it had actually started out as just changing my clothes over from summer to winter attire.
And it has gotten so COLD out lately! Brrrr... it's not to bad in the afternoon, but in the mornings there has been frost. And heating the whole house is quite expensive so for now we are trying to live with the temp. indoors and 68 degrees. I guess it's that time of year. Yay... that means Thanksgiving is just around the corner! =D
Well I should continue in my motivated mood and get more done. I'm hoping to be able to go up to E.C. tonight with Ems to Stacy and James' house for a little party.
I'll try to write a little sooner (and maybe about something worth hearing about next time. lol). ;)
TTYL!

It's Summer! Yay!

I just got in from milk testing with my Dad. I actually really enjoy the job. I like the smell of the barn, and trying to keep up, and writing all the numbers and amounts down. a n d.... it was soooo beautiful out! If felt so good. =) I think I might go out and read on the roof for a while (before it rains, as I've heard it is supposed to do today).
Mom and the younger kids are out picking strawberries at the Sturdivants! Yummy! I can't wait to eat some. But speaking of berries.. I also need to go up to our hill and pick a lot of blueberries before they all fall off. Their season is almost over.

No Brilliant Thoughts

Well, I don't have any intelligent thoughts, or brilliant ideas to write about (at least not now). But I must comment on the weather while I'm here... It's so extremely gorgeous and warm out. Morning is my absolute most favorite... the air is so fresh and the sun is so soft and true.
Anyway, I am very glad it's summer!!
AND today is the 1st of July!!! Yay!!! Gee, the years is more than half over.... that's just scary to think about but who can avoid it? I'm definitely looking forward to "certain desirable events" coming up quickly in this month! I'm excited that Jed and Kendra will be getting married, that all the relative will be visiting, that I'll get to see a bunch of people I haven't seen in ages... and countless other things that I wont bore you will by naming. ;) lol
Well... I have things to do. We live in a "Must-Keep-Busy" world. =) It keeps us all going doesn't it?.
I miss you all and I'll talk to y'all soon!!

An Interesting Poem

There's no use in weeping,
Though we are condemned to part:
There's such a thing as keeping
A remembrance in one's heart...

hahahahaha...

O.K., that was a random title for a post but I was getting sick of something "typical," if you catch my drift.
So today was my first day of Drivers Ed. haha, but I forgot that it was this the first day, soooooo... guess what I did. ;) I slept in! On accident of course! But nonetheless I was there an hour late. blah! Oh well....
Then I think I'm going to go help my Grammy Meyer address wedding invitations, that are going out pretty late. Considering the wedding is only a little more than a month away. =/ Hopefully most everyone will be able to come.
Yesterday after church (which, btw, was taught by Mike and was excellent), Em, Mom, Nellie, Grammy and I went up to Dorchester for Kendra's Bridal Shower. It was quite a time. The best was when we got Jed dressed up as "the bride" and Kendra as "the groom"! It was hilarious! I'll have to put some pictures on facebook. =)
Anyway, I guess it's time to do something. So, I'll type at y'all later.

Live for Something

Live for something; be not idle-
Look about thee for employ;
Sit not down to useless dreaming-
Labor is the sweetest joy.
Folded hands are ever weary,
Selfish hearts are never gay,
Life for thee has many duties-
Live for something, while you may.

Scatter blessings in thy pathway!
Gentle words and cheering smiles
Better are than gold and sliver,
With their grief-dispelling wiles.
As the pleasant sunshine falleth
Ever on the grateful earth,
So let sympathy and kindness
Gladden well the darkened hearth.

Walter Awarness!

Haha... some of the things people believe these days are comical. Some things people try to convince us of are ridiculous as well!

I was reading Walter E. Williams today... he wrote an article called "Environmentalists' Wild Predictions" He was talking about some of the "doomsday" predictions of the past that have been since proven wrong. You should read it....

http://www.gmu.edu/departments/economics/wew/articles/08/EnvironmentalistsWildPredictions.htm

Really you should just read all of his articles. I don't know very many people that read his stuff... but I don't believe it's because they don't want to, but because they don't know about him.
His literature is down to earth too, and it all makes sense. And it's not long and lengthy which makes it easy to just drop in and read for five minutes every now and then and get alot out of it in the process.
I encourage you to check him out ....

Enjoy!!! =D

The rain... look it rains.

Today was an Ideal rainy day. So beautiful really! In the morning I woke up and it was all "dark" and cloudy like... just how I remember it when I was young. And it rained off and on all day... mostly on of course. And then sometimes it was like there would be a "cloud burst" and it would start dumping water even though seconds before it had only been a gentle sprinkle. But I really like days like that. Sometimes you just need sunshine, but I think it goes the other way too, and people don't realize it.

Then... all day since I woke up and looked out my window "Like The Rain" was playing through my head. Unfortunately I couldn't get you tube to work so I couldn't actually listen to it. That was saddening. =( But I am alive. =D
I live to love another day.

Like The Rain, Clint Black

I never liked the rain until I walked through it with you
Every thunder cloud that came was one more I might not get through
On the darkest day there's always light and now I see it too
But I never liked the rain until I walked through it with you
I hear it falling in the night and filling up my mind
All the heaven's rivers come to light I see it all unwind
I hear it talking through the trees and on the window pane
When I hear it I just can't believe I never liked the rain

Like the rain I have fallen for you and I know just why you
Liked the rain always calling for you I'm falling for you now
Just like the rain

When the cloud is rolling over thunder striking me
It's as bright as lightning and I wonder why I couldn't see
That it's always good and when the flood is gone we still remain
Guess I've known all along
I just belong here with you falling
Like the rain I have fallen for you and I know just why you

Liked the rain always calling for you,
I'm falling for you now
Just like the rain I have fallen for you
I'm falling for you now just like the rain

And when the night falls on our better days
And we're looking to the sky
For the winds to take us high above the plains
I know that we'll find better ways to look into the eye of the storms that will be calling
Forever we'll be falling

Like the rain I have fallen for you, and I know just why you
Like the rain always calling for you,
I'm falling for you now just
Like the rain I have fallen for you, and I know just why you
Like the rain

A Lovely Sunday

This Sunday is so beautiful!!! The sun is setting right now... gorgeous. I randomly ran outside in a sudden burst of excitement and went up to the top of a hill and watched the sun for a few minutes!!! It's so glorious... so I had to sing "How Great Thou Art".

We spent the day at the Forster's after church. Their house is coming along quite nicely and is turning out just lovely!!! The whole house is practically made of wood.... I love it! And they have a very nice view. We had a nice time at there... good fellowship with fellow saints. =)

Now it is just enjoy the rest of the evening by relaxing. I think we might watch a movie
(I can't remember what it is called otherwise I'd supply you with the name) because Dad rented two from Country Video last night and we have only watched one of them.... .

So it goes... maybe I should stop babbling about abstract stuff. ;)
Well, at least I didn't copy and paste the first four sentences a million times! lol!

Apocalypto and New England Boiled Dinner

Well today is the last day of my grandma's visit. She's been here since Good Friday and is leaving tomorrow. But let me tell you this last week we really have burned the midnight oil! We have stayed up till at least 12 a.m. every night. This morning I slept in till 10 o'clock! Craziness! =D Last night we watched Well today is the last day of my grandma's visit. Winter In Wisconsin

It's winter in Wisconsin
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At twenty-five below.
Oh, how I love Wisconsin
When the snow's up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave Wisconsin
'Cause I'm frozen to the ground!

Lots and Lots of Bussiness.

Yay!!! Hehe... computers make me happy. I love typing too... and with speed. Although I'm not as fast as some people. =P
I can't believe the conference starts tomorrow though!! I'm so excited. It's gonna be so much fun! I'll get to see everyone and have good times and make some memories! There is no better past time. ;)
Today I worked for Mark. We had to clean this older lady's house and one of the rooms was so full of junk and stuff that it took almost all morning to clean it out (and might I mention that before we started you couldn't walk into it, it was so full of stuff). You wouldn't think it would be that tiring but it was. And the cats in the house had crapped on the floor under this bed. It reeked! Uggg! Grossness! But I suppose it is worth it in the long run when the pay check comes in. It's a good thing to look forward to. =D
Gee, I really feel like making tapioca pudding but I know I shouldn't eat any more junk food and this week end I'm sure we'll be getting our fill anyway. So I have resigned to making myself some tea, doing my math and some Bible reading. That will suffice. =D
Well I should go do that then. *chuckles to herself as she listens to this crazy 80's music from some old air plane movie that her siblings are watching*
Can't wait to see y'all!!! =D

Psalm 8

O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands: thou hast put all things under his feet:
All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

little fluffy pink clouds...

I'm watching the sunset right now... or what I can see of it. There are a bunch of little pink and blue clouds dotting the sky. And to the west the sky is pink. It's so pretty. It makes me want to grab my Bible and read Psalms. Oh and I failed to mention the hills all around with the sun's long rays on them. I do like winter time for that reason. You can see a whole hill... it's volume and greatness. And from a distance the bare trees look like a soft grey wool blanket.
It's so much fun just to let your mind go and jump into a fantasy realm.... but I guess it's not very realistic. Such is life.
Just to think... even though we're a fallen human race, the creation and nature around us is still untouched. It is still the creation that God looked at and "saw that it was good". It's nice to think of that. :)

Sooooo Cute! lol!

I just love little kids and their logic. Yesterday while I was supervising Patrick read he came to a word and was stumbling over it.
"heellll... heee...."
I then tell him, "No Paddy, there's no E to let the E say E!"
(The english language is soooo confusing for a beginning reader)
He tries again."He... h-h-heh..."
Then little Nellie who was sitting nearby listening, in all confidence says, "It's sounds just like hell. See Paddy?..."
With this new help Paddy discovers that the word is "hello" and continues reading.
But it was so funny that I was having trouble not laughing! Where do little kids get this stuff?
Gee, they make great comedians. :P

Irresistable Words

I keep finding myself wanting to say these quotes or words that I've heard.
>
-"hold me back!"
(just said in a southern accent so it sounds like (hol' me back)
-"dagnabit!"
-"the way of the future..."
-"what's the likelyness?"
-"Shazam!"

Don't ask me why. I guess they're just cool. ;)

The Urge.

Well I have an urge for a lot of things but especially for watching Pride and Prejudice! Oh my goodness! And it's playing this Sunday on PBS... but I'm not sure if I'll be able to watch it. I think even though we won't be able to have a get-together and even though it will be blizzardizing, this weekend will still be a blast. Not only will Jae be up from Indy, but I think Kacey (also known as Jay) might be able to come over! That would be awesome!
I made tapioca liquid for the first time. Woot! lol! Haha... Jae I'm sure you must be proud! =D It still tastes good in the drinkable form... BUT... I wouldn't have minded if it had turned out right. I think I might try to make the real stuff tomorrow.
And tonight we might be watching the Aviator. We'll see if it's good. =)
AND... I would like to know if anyone else is having trouble getting their spell check to work! Mine won't do anything! Errrr!

Ode To Beef..

-Beef, it's what's for dinner,
if you don't eat your carrots,
you can't have any beef.
-Beef, it's what's for dessert,
if you don't eat your beef
I'll go beserk!
-Beef, it's what's for breakfast,
if you don't eat your beef
you can't have any lunch.
-Beef, it's what's for a snack,
we talk about beef,
behind your back.
-I saw this cow,
her name was Betty,
what a coincidence,
her name started with B...
as in beef!!!
-I was going to save her
as my friend,
we were going to be
bosom buddies!
But she looks too tasty
not to eat!

Green Bay and Service Master

Well I'm back again! I've been going and gone for almost a week and a half now. I worked for Service Master since last wednesday and it was probably the most fun work I've done. It was just cleaning and washing and vaccuming! Plus the people I worked with were really fun. There was this hilarious guys named Brian who always had something to say and these funny theories. Then Emily and the other two girls and I were always laughing hysterically about the craziest things! It was really a blast. Oh and our number 1 subject to talk about was not guys... but food! Yessss! Ooooh it's so good! hee, hee! We described food and made our mouths water. Our favorite food to talk about was pizza and manderin oranges.
Then yesterday (Friday) Mr. Brant, our employer took us all out to pizza hut for a treat and kind of like a celebration for the job finaly being done. And it was a huge job. It was a big budweiser distributor owned by Bill. haha! But it really was enjoyable even though I got nothing else done and I'm pretty tired now from working non-stop.
Oh and the trip to Green Bay was awesome! I'm so glad I went. The conference was so good and I learned a bunch of new stuff. Hanging with everybody was so much fun, too! There were a bunch of people that I got to know better and I met a bunch of new really cool people.
The 4 hour car rides there and back were really fun too! I would definetly do it all again! =D
Well enough blabbing. I have a Black Cherry cake to finish (I wish Jae was here to make it... it feels weird to make your own b-day cake. I guess it's worth it nonetheless)!! TTYL!

8,894 hours old! hee,hee!

Well I tried to calculate it how may hours old I was at Paddy's request and that's what I came up with. But I most likely messed up or something because it's a very droning process you know! lol!
So pretty much I am officially 16 years, 14 hours 48 minutes.... I won't bother with the seconds. =D
I had to wake up at six o'clock this morning and adventure out into the freezing cold. But it was all worth it in the end cause I had a delicious cup of hot chocolate and Dad and I ordered a waffle and hash browns at the Norske Nook!! It was good and I was stuffed by the time we left. Mom is making some kind of manicotti noodle (similar to lasagna) stuff for dinner. Yumm....
And as a bonus it is bright and sunny today! That is definitely a good thing. =)

It's so beautiful out today!

Yay! It's so beautiful out today! =D The sun is shining, the grass is gre... wait a second!! ;)
I wish it was this sunny all the time. There's something so refreshing about a day like this.
Well almost, but tonight I have to go to a 4-H thing which kind of puts a wee damper on things. Blah... I would just like to stay home and have a normal life. Oh well... not much I can do.
I'm writing a report on Adrenoleukodystrophy... it's really interesting to research. You should check it out sometime if you get the chance or are bored. It's a terrible, sad disease. =(
But yeah, I also have to make dinner tonight cause mom is gone at BRF. I am making spaghetti! Yeehaw! Nice and easy... except for the noodles! lol!

The Second Coming

Last Friday at Bible study Mr. Jordan was talking about some very interesting parallels between the first coming of Christ and what the world will be like during his second coming.

The First Coming
-there were 390 years of silence of prophets before He came
-there was a universal language: Greek
-In Matt. 2 and Luke 2 Christ appears to believers privately
-Then he appears publicly with John the Baptist at his baptism

The Second Coming
-same with 2nd coming (Malachi 4)
-the universal language will be English
-there will be 390 years of silence between 1611 (when the KJV Bible first was printed) and the 2nd coming.

Pretty interesting, if I might say so myself. =D

Changes and Invention

It's really beautiful outside right now. Although it is cloudy and grey. Right outside the window a ways away there's the woods with it's stick trees. lol! You know naturally the tree's are made of sticks! lol!
There are some things that definitely have to happen in February. LIKE... a sleep over!!! Maybe Saturday night or Sunday (the 9th or 10th). How does that sound?
Jae and I were talking today and discussing how much all of us people have changed even in the last 6 months. Haha... what will we be like in 5 years?!! That is so freaky to think about. Or in a hundred years... when we're all dead. What will the technology be like then? Will there be flying cars. You know I be we couldn't even begin to guess what kind of things there will be. It makes you wonder how many more things can they invent? Would people from 1910 have even imagined that you would be reading this on the magical mail machine?!! lol! It's so amazing really.
Well I gotta go clean... like usual! =)

Notes on Election (from a Bible Study by MJT)

Election is a corporate thing. (predestined, called, election)
-

Matthew 24:31/24
Mark 13:20/22/27
Luke 18:7
Romans 8:28-33
Romans 9:7
Ephesians 1:5/11/34
Colossians 3:12
1 Timothy 5:21
2 Timothy 2:10
Titus 1:1
1 Peter 1:2
2 Peter 1:10
-

- Eph. 1:34 “chose us in him.” How?
-

-Romans 9-11 tells us why God’s promises to Israel haven’t happened.
-

You have to ask yourself when it comes to the Bible…
What does it say?
What doesn’t it say?
-

-What is God’s purpose today?
To call out a body of believers to be raptured into heaven.
-

-foreknowledge: Does not mean God determined who would go to heaven. It simply means He knew who would.
-

“Christ may have died for your sins but I’m not sure because I don’t know if you’re elect or not…”
-

-We can know who are the elect.
-

-God’s Elect = believers
-

-Those who respond to what is required to be his people are elect.
-

-God has always had an elect group/agency.
-

-Churches try to go “individual” and make “election” not a corporate thing.
-

Old Testament Elect = The Little Flock
Now = Those who are in Christ

-In both different time periods mentioned above to be elect is/was a choice of own free will.
-
- God has never forced an unbeliever to believe.
- A Diagram:
The Olive Tree
-it represents the place of access to God.
-it’s branches = those who are called.
-Romans 11:16

Every Day Examples

Today a bunch of us were sitting around doing our own random things before lunch when we heard the sound of airplanes! Channing in excitement exclaimed, "Holy crap!!" at and started running to a window. Then right away Janelle exclaimed, "Holy...!!" after which of course my mom told her that it was not good to say that. But it made me think of how much each one of us effect other people. Especially those who are younger. It can be a good thing or it can be a vicious cycle. I've noticed it with myself and my siblings. Like the way Isaac treats Channing on down is just how Channing has learned to treat Paddy and Janelle (I wonder who Isaac learned it from... of course me and the rest of his older siblings).
We respect those who are older than us but show annoyance and meanness toward those that we feel are "under" us. The words in Galations 6:7 comes to mind; "...for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."
It's kind of scary to think just how much my every move and remark my younger siblings follow after. And to think that a lot of the time the things I do or say are thing I wouldn't want other people to follow and often times scold my siblings for. Maybe a little hypocritical there?
And then to think of someday being a parent. You are your children's number one example and it doesn't matter how you tell them to be they're going to follow you.
We can encourage those around us (especially those older than us because they don't usually follow our example) and especially try our hardest to be a good example and not a stumbling block. We decide how we are going to be. It is always a choice. "We have the choice to choose and to choose wisely."

Galations 6:9 "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

Looks Can Deceive

Weather is so strange. Right now, looking out my window, I see a beautiful blue sky and the morning sun shinning on everything making it sparkle (because most everything is covered in snow or ice). And then I go click up weather.com and it tells me that looks are deceiving!!! It is really only zero degrees out (that sounds so strange) and it FEELS like fifteen below... just charming.
Which is exactly why when I'm asked if I like winter, I reply, "Oh yes, it's just lovey... as long as I can stay inside."
Nope... I don't envy my Dad and Brothers who have to go out in the mornings and at night. And having had to do so in years before, it makes me all the more greatful towards them. So I just sit in hear and do womanly chores and make sure they get their coffee when they come in! lol!

Another Beginning

Happy New Year!!!!
I can't believe it's already 2008. Although today is a perfect new years day. It's all sunny and shining on the snow. The sky is big and blue and it reminds me of last winter when everything was so much fun.
On top of it all I actually woke up before 8:30 this morning! So it's a great day to be alive! lol!
I wish you guys were with me though.... that would be the finishing touch to an awesome day!! Well I hope you have a great day as well!
Love ya!
