Slacking!!!

Hey Y'all. Well the weather is mighty fine, or just right as far as I'm concerned. Not too hot, not too cold. I really got quite the work-out today! I mowed lawn and did other assorted things. You wouldn't think mowing the lawn would be such a hard job (as my mom always tells me) but really it wares you out. And out mower is harder to steer so it takes more muscle. But hey! that's not so bad. You know as they say, "Pain is gain" so maybe I'm in for a deal doing so much work. =D Yeah, it's not such a bad prospect after all.
Enough blabbering about work though. Just thinking about it can make a person tired sometimes! ;) Right now I'm reading a book called Chaucer's Canterbury Tales: A new and moder English prose translation by R.M. Lumiansky with a preface by van Doren. So far it's really good. What the gist of it all is this group of twenty (or so), are all going on pilgrimages (inspired by nature and the time of year or something like that) and are traveling for Canterbury. Well it so happens that the keeper of the inn they stay at the first night likes this merry party so much that he makes them a proposal: that he will accompany them on their journey and each traveler must tell two stories, (of which he will be judge for who's is best) then whoever tells the best story (as far as entertainment and moral teaching) will be allowed to stay at his inn (at the expense of himself and the other travelers) for free on the return journey. So right now I am about half way through the book. There are some quite interesting tales. You guys will have to read it when I'm done, but it definitely should be rated 13 years of age plus (skip the PG)! It has some vulgarity and crudeness in it. =D
Well I'm sure it is past ten and I need to go to sleep. I have been quite bad this month and on most days I wake up no later than 8:30!! As a mater of fact the first tale told in The C.C. Tales tells about the fair maiden Emily who, "... arose and dressed herself before day break, as was her custom; for May will permit no sluggishness in rising. That season touches every sensitive heart and forces a person to leap from bed by saying, "Arise, and pay homage to me." This caused Emily to remember to honor May and to get up early." Maybe I just don't have a sensitive heart! lol! =D
Well this time I really mean it. I will go to bed. Farewell my brilliant friends!

We All Have Our Heroes

Heroes
For you who love heroic things
In summer dream or winter tale,
I tell of warriors, saints, and kings,
In scarlet, sackcloth, glittering mail,
And helmets peaked with iron wings.
They beat down Wrong; they strove for Right.
In ringing fields, on grappled ships,
Singing, they flung into the fight.
They fell with triumph on their lips,
And in their eyes a glorious light.
That light still gleams. From far away
Their brace song greets us like a cheer.
We fight the same great fight as they,
Right against Wrong; we, now and here;
They, in their fashion, yesterday.

Opportunity
This I beheld, or dreamed it in a dream:
There spread a cloud of dust along a plain;
And underneath the cloud, or in it, raged
A furious battle, and men yelled, and swords
Shocked upon swords and shields. A prince’s banner
Wavered, then staggered backward, hemmed by foes.
A craven hung along the battles edge,
And thought: “Had I a sword of keener steel-
That blue blade that the king’s son bears - but this
Blunt thing-!” he snapt and flung it from his hand,
And lowering crept away and left the field.
Then came the king’s son, wounded, sore bestead,
And weaponless, and saw the broken sword,
Hilt buried in the dry and trodden sand,
And ran and snatched it, and with battle shout
Lifted afresh, he hewed his enemy down,
And saved a great cause that heroic day.

Our Heroes
Here’s a hand to the boy who has courage
To do what he knows to be right;
When he falls in the way of temptation,
He has a hard battle to fight.
Who strives against self and his comrades
Will find a most powerful foe.
All honor to him if he conquers.
A cheer for the boy who says “NO!”
hero
There’s many a battle fought daily
The world knows nothing about;
There’s many a brave little soldier
Whose strength puts a legion to rout.
And he who fights sin single-handed
Is more of a here, I say,
That he who leads soldiers to battle
And conquers by arms in the fray.
hero
Be steadfast, my boy, when you’re tempted,
To do what you know to be right.
Stand firm by the colors of manhood,
And you will o’ercome in the fight.
“The right” be your battle cry ever
In waging the warfare of life,
And God, who knows who are the heroes,
Will give you the strength for the strife.

Busy, Busy Days

Well it’s been pretty busy lately. Work, work, work! Yeah you know what I mean; that never ending drive to get things done. Well we’ve been cleaning the farm area and doing crazy things like scraping old paint off the red shed. Actually we’re doing that so that we can paint it!!! It’s going to look so weird around here when that’s done. At least it will look nice for the graduation party. Gee, have you ever noticed how time seems like it is going at the speed of light and then when you look at the clock or the calendar it time really hasn’t gotten that far? Maybe I’m just strange like that. Lol! Man not only is the Graduation party right on us but Anna Marie is getting married too!!! Holy shiners, life is crazy! Well I have to go mow the lawn…

I am in a strange mood. I really feel like watching Tuck Everlasting. Maybe it’s the weather? You know, the trees are full and lush, the grass is green, and I feel like being adventurous. Think about it, what if you suddenly one day decided to take a walk in the woods (or maybe you were mad so you ran off and didn’t pay attention to where you were going) and you stumbled upon this cute guy who dressed like he was from the 1900’s! Then you get kidnapped… well that wouldn’t be that great but the whole thought is just so exciting!! I know. I must sound like an 8 year old right now. You know… there is a huge used-to-be tree farm to the south of our property… and the guys who own it even have a “deer sanctuary” that they never disturb… hmmmm!
Can’t you just hear the tune in the little music box. I want to get one with that same tune. It’s so enchanting!

Hot and Humid

Well I haven’t posted in a while so I just thought I would while I’m on lunch brake. Mom is having everyone work today instead of do school. We are cleaning the whole farm cause we are having some bankers come or something like that. Man it is so hot outside! It’s 73 in the house and 85 degrees out there, and really humid.
The party was so much fun! It was to bad that Kacey couldn’t come. =( But that’s life huh. Tim was there of course so you would have gotten to see him. Unfortunately the guy that Sanny wanted to come had to work. Blah! I’d have to say the most fun I had was playing Texas Holdem’! I was really surprised that I won. I bet I wouldn’t have if Jacob and his party hadn’t had to leave before it was over. I just got lucky.
You know what?… I really feel like swimming right now. Water sounds so good. But I’d rather go to some lake or something cause chlorine pools get so annoying sometimes. I have a feeling that my summer will be pretty… (how do you say it?) uneventful… as in there wont be any guy that I’ll be interested. But that will be good I suppose. Maybe I’ll get more accomplished!
so much fun!
Hey! We need to plan another sleep over! Some Saturday night were Kacey can come to church with us. We can have a bon fire, roast marsh-mellows, go on walks, talk till midnight thirty and anything we can think of! That sound like fun!

A rock on weekend!!! =D

Well that was one heck of a weekend! Holy cow I don’t think I slept much! ;) On Friday night Sanny slept over and we stayed up talking till 4 a.m. Then on Sunday the Gitto’s were over all afternoon and stayed until 12:30 a.m. (they were waiting for this guy to bring the tractor they brought). Last night all you girls came over and we partied till 3:30 a.m.! What were your guys’ favorite movie? Scoop was actually pretty cool. The geeky, ditsy, hot blond actually solves a murder case! Kinda cute huh? lol! Then there was Tristan and Isoele. That was good and sad. All because Isoele didn’t tell Tristan here real name. Idiot! Yeah I blame her mostly. Maybe that just because she’s a woman so I know how her mind works. (???) Yeah anyways.
Kacey… I don’t think we’ll ever let you forget Mr. Caesar… that’s my nickname for him. =D That was just too comical that you were in 5 out of 6 of the He Said, She Said’s! I guess we were all thinking of you.
Well I so can’t wait until Saturday. If the weather is bad I am going to be so… mad! But I have a good feeling that it will be really nice out… and it’s going to be a blast!
