God Is Love

I watched the movie Fireproof last night with a few friends and was reminded of the lovely blessings that come from serving and putting others before myself.
Luke 6:31 says, "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise."

The book The Love Dare, which Fireproof was based upon, reminds me of the scripture in Paul's epistle to the Romans. Chapter 12 says that though we Christians are all different in many ways we are all still the body of Christ (Rom.12:5) and chapter 13 verse 8 says, "Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law." I am sure that The Love Dare was based upon The Word of God.

Romans12:8-21
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

1 Corinthians is often thought of as "the great Love chapter." (by the way, "charity" is love)

1 Corinthians 13:
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
 ...
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

 1 John chapter 4 is another excellent chapter that I'd encourage you to read. Verses 7 and 8 say,
 "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love."

God is love and we can understand His love that He has demonstrated for us, in us and through us by reading His word. The Bible is one big book on Love... so dig out your Bible and give it a good read.
Beautiful is the wisdom and the love of God.

1 John 4:19 "We love him, because he first loved us."

Here's a cool song that they played during the closing credits on the movie Fireproof:
